A joint CSR partnership between Godfrey Philips India (GPI) and Earthy Goods Foundation, Amodini was an extension of GPI’s National Bravery program. The company was keen to extend the program to rural women entrepreneurs and artisan workers who continued to pursue their craft despite their challenges. The project aimed at empowering women through both skill development and marketing.

The Foundation team worked with a number of women micro entrepreneurs and artisans to create a range of handcrafted products that were then marketed for festive gifting purposes. The team developed a range of new products and also supported the GPI’s corporate team in marketing. Orders were placed by a number of companies and individuals. A number of leading companies have chosen products developed by women across Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu and other geographies.

JSL Foundation invited Earthy Goods Foundation to Jajpur, Orissa to assess how their livelihood program for young girls could be transformed to a viable local enterprise. They were training young girls in stitching and tailoring. The girls had basic skills that relevant for the local market which was small and limited.

The foundation team is delivering a comprehensive program that includes:
• Assessment of skill levels of the community
• Delivery of targeted skill development training
• Design workshop to develop a new contemporary product range
• Test market of products for market acceptance and demand
• Setting up of a sustainable micro enterprise model owned by the community
